How to write a pop song wikihow

Ever heard a good pop song and thought you could do the same? Now you can write a song like SOS or pon de replay with this simple step by step manual.

Firstly, decide what you want the song to be about, most pop songs have a lively up beat tune. But a fast happy melody can backed up by slow ostinato on a glockenspeil or xylophone. This would be perfect for a song about dancing or something of the same sort.

Once you have a good subject, brainstorm what fits into that topic and write them out. You should be able to make a few good verses using this. One example would be dancing - lights, DJs, dance moves

Now for a chorus. You can use some of the words that are in the other verses. You can even use words from different languages, or da da da da da da da da, or something like that. The chorus must be catchy

Now a bridge, this is usually a different tune and beat from the rest of the song. This may be used to evoke different feelings from the audience.

Now get someone to play the music that you have for the song and you sing it while they play and record it! You are now a singer/songwriter!
